A note from our founder
Hi, I'm Becky, founder and designer behind Jumeaux. I have loved clothing for as long as I can remember, beginning on my mother's lap at the sewing machine. As a teenager, I wandered malls admiring clothes I couldn't afford, imagining how I might make them my own. One day, after wishing a piece came in another color, my mother said, "If you want to make those decisions, become a fashion designer." And so I did.
My dream was always to create a clothing line, a boutique, or perhaps both. In 2004, I joined Free People as it was becoming the brand we know today. There, creativity came first. I traveled the world for inspiration, formed lasting relationships with mentors, and learned to trust my imagination.
After a few years of intimate boutique retail and design work, I returned to Free People, where I spent a decade leading textile design, color, embellishment, and dye. Across twenty years, I gathered knowledge, refined my craft, and built a community. Still, the quiet desire to create something of my own remained.
And so, in January of 2025, I created Jumeaux.
Jumeaux is the culmination of a life in fashion - and the beginning of something entirely my own.
OUr Story
At Jumeaux, we believe in the beauty of duality. Not just as a design principle, but as a way of being. Founded by designer Becky Dator after two decades in fashion and textile design, Jumeaux grew from a lifelong fascination with clothing, craft, and the many selves we hold at once.
Our name means “twins” in French, reflecting the contrasts we embrace: past and present, softness and structure, tradition and reinvention.
As a slow fashion studio, we create clothing that lives in the in-between, pairing upcycled materials with new textiles and elevated design with an ease meant to be lived in. Some pieces are one-of-a-kind, while others are made in small batches using natural fibers and hand-done processes.
Collaboration is central to how we create. We work in partnership with skilled makers, artisans, and textile communities around the world,
with deep respect for the people, traditions, and processes that shape each piece.
Whether made from reclaimed fabric or something new, every piece carries a story of where it came from, designed to hold memory and
take on new meaning through the person who wears it.
